The modern lifestyle can be very hectic, leaving us with little time to relax and recoup our energy, and so it is no wonder that now and again we can feel very tired and worn out. There are a number of natural ways in which you can boost your energy and give yourself a quick lift, and many of these can also be beneficial to your overall health.

Diet and Exercise
Eating a healthy diet is essential to good health, and will also help support our bodies during busy and stressful times. Try and eat at least five portions of fresh fruit and vegetables every day and keep fatty, sugary foods to a minimum, as these can be difficult for the body to process and can leave you feeling tired and bloated. Exercise is also important, as not only does it help to strengthen our bodies and give us more energy to work with but it can also help to reduce tension and stress and improve our overall wellbeing.

Supplements
Sometimes we just cannot get enough essential vitamins and minerals from our diets and so it is a good idea to consider supplements, as these can help to support our health. You can get vitamin and mineral supplements in tablet or liquid form, and beneficial vitamins to support energy include B vitamin complex and vitamin C, which is also essential for a healthy immune system. Minerals such as iron and zinc are also important for maintaining energy, and a lack of these can lead to fatigue and an increased risk of minor infections such as seasonal colds and flu.

Herbs
There are a number of powerful herbs that have been proven to have a beneficial effect on energy and this includes ginseng, which is now widely available from health food stores and specialist suppliers in many different forms including tinctures, tablets and energy drinks. Ginseng can help to support your body and maintain energy levels whilst under stress, but because this is such as powerful herb it should not be used for long periods of time as it can have some side effects such as indigestion and insomnia, and it can also interact with some medicines (blood thinners and ibuprofen for example) and so you should always consult your health advisor before you start taking ginseng.

Energy Drinks
There are a number of energy drinks on the market, but many of these contain synthetic sugars and other ingredients that although boost energy temporarily, can also cause energy slumps. MonaVie Emv is a natural energy boosting drink which contains 100% natural ingredients such as guarana, green tea and yerba mate, all of which can have a number of beneficial effects on the body. The main ingredient of MonaVie Emv is PalatinoseTM a carbohydrate energy source found naturally in honey, sugar cane and sugar beets, which is scientifically shown to promote longer lasting energy as it metabolizes more slowly than standard energy drink additives such as sucrose and maltose, and can produce a slow and consistent release of energy over longer periods of time.

While other energy drinks are loaded with energy high/crash stimulants MonaVie Emv offers a natural and healthy blend of antioxidant rich fruits and botanical compounds that are good for both and mind, and contains no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners or preservatives. You can find out more about the health and energy boosting effects of MonaVie Emv from their site.

BV does not normally cause any associated symptoms of itching or soreness around the vagina or vulva, unlike some of other causes of vaginal discharge such as thrush, and the discharge from BV is normally a pale grey-white colour with a strong, fishy smell.

Bacterial Vaginosis is caused by the overgrowth of more than one bacteria, which occur naturally in the vagina and provide a vital defensive function against other more harmful germs such as candida (causes thrush). When these bacteria get out of balance they can multiply very quickly causing the acid levels in the vagina to change and discharge to occur.

What causes Bacterial Vaginosis?
The balance of bacteria in the vagina is very delicate and so the overgrowth of one form of bacteria over another is quite common, and BV will occur in every 1 in 3 women at some point in their lifetime. Doctors are not sure what exactly triggers outbreaks of BV, but it is known that it is more common in those women that smoke and also those that have an intra-uterine contraceptive device (IUD). BV is not a sexually transmitted disease and is not caused by poor hygiene, and in fact excessive washing of the vaginal area may actually result in BV, as this can disrupt the delicate balance of bacteria here.

How to you Treat Bacterial Vaginosis?
It is important that you get BV properly diagnosed, as there are also several other conditions that could cause similar vaginal discharge, and your doctor may need to take a painless sample (swab) from your vagina and send it off to be tested. Once BV has been confirmed then your doctor may not suggest any medication at all if it is just a mild case, as it is most likely that it will clear up on its own.

However BV can cause complications in pregnant women, and also those undergoing certain gynaecological procedures such as operations and biopsies, and so in these cases a course of an antibiotics like metronidazole will be prescribed in order to combat the overgrowth of bacteria and bring the balance back to normal.
